For Netflix streaming I recently watched and liked The Joneses and the TV series Life (but that was quirky).

On DVD the movie Margin Call was very good. Deception and The Edge of Darkness I liked.

Life was solid - haven't checked out the Joneses yet - I'm watching Planet of the Apes at the moment.

Only have streaming here.

There's a FANTASTIC series for kids called 'Liberty's Kids' (2002). It's forty episodes that cover the time span from the acts that led to the Revolutionary War through the signing of the Constitution.

I found it by going to 'Characters' and clicking on Ben Franklin, but you can just search for the title.

The series follows history through the eyes of a freed slave, a young American boy, his friend from France, and a girl newly arrived from England (all of whom work in Ben Franklin's print shop). They leave the print shop to follow the events as journalists.

I found it with little or no political bias and a pretty straightforward account of events. It's targetted at seven to fourteen year olds, but anyone of any age will benefit.

I didn't like that movie.
They didn't seem to be able to hold the camera still.

Also search for 'Terry Fator'.

There is a video of his show in Las Vegas.

He is THE BEST ventriloquist I've seen in my lifetime and even sings through his puppets with a spectacular voice.

His on stage assistant is also smoking hot!

I hated how much they deviated from the books. But good movies.

Have you seen the Jodie Foster movie 'Contact'. I enjoyed that one also, not because of Jodie Foster, but because the story is fairly accurate space science. That is, of course, due to Carl Sagan the author.

Burn Notice is on Netflix. As is Star Trek, TNG and DS9! So is Firefly. I think Jericho is on it too, but i'm not 100% on that.

Jericho is on Netflix streaming - I started the series last week, seems pretty good so far - though if you missed an episode it's tough to follow.

Firefly was a fantastic series - I didn't see it until about two years ago, now I'm sorely disappointed that Fox ended up cancelling it.

I never really caught on to Star Trek - to date the only Star Trek I've ever watched was the JJ Abrams movie, guess I'm a pretty crummy nerd...

Haven't seen burn notice yet, but I think USA puts out some high quality stuff - I'm going to need to check into it.

My son loves that series. Fiona is hot IMO.

There are lots of Independent films and chick flicks on Netflix streaming. I'm a guy BTW. E.g. search on Michelle Williams etc.

The Netflix suggestion software is pretty helpful, once you start browsing it starts recommending.
