If you receive an e-mail about your password...

An update on the e-mails that some members received about new passwords being requested for their accounts:

This is a phpBB-generated e-mail that is automatically sent if you click the "I forgot my password" link on the login screen. If you didn't click on that link, that means that somebody else entered your username and e-mail address to generate that e-mail.

What this means/what you can do:

Your account is still secure, even if you click on the link in your e-mail. The only copy of that e-mail that's sent is to the e-mail address in your profile, so a third party will not have access to your new login information. If you want to change your password back, simply update it in your profile. If you didn't click on the link, nothing changes with your account, and you can simply disregard/delete the e-mail. You can also change "always show my e-mail address" to "no" in your profile, which will prevent both non-members and other forum members from seeing that information.

Note: this only applies to e-mails that match the format of the e-mail posted at the bottom of this post. If you receive a different kind of note about any of your account information, please forward it to an admin ASAP.

We apologize for any confusion or concern this may have caused, and we're taking steps to prevent situations like this in the future, and also to track down the person or people responsible. Additionally, any people found attempting to impersonate other forum members (or acquire their personal information) will have their accounts terminated, and be subject to any and all appropriate legal penalties as well.

Thanks, and we hope you can continue to enjoy your time here.
